Yo~!
I know this blog is a bit late and all but I still want to tell about my weekend at Texel =)
Texel is a small island in the Netherlands (See picture) it's one of the 5 islands that you can visit =) We have two more but you're not allowed to go there because of it's nature.
I went to Texel together with my mom, dad, bro, his girlfriend and one of my best friends. Also our dog went with us!
Day 1: The Arrival
We traveled to Den Helder by car. Mom dad my bro and his girlfriend in one car me and my best friend in the other! It was awesome xD I never traveled for such a long time with non stop Kpop music in the CD player! We sang along talked a lot and once we were in Den Helder the CD was at it's end and we started all over again! xD (Den Helder is 3 hours drive by car but we had some traffic jam so it took us almost 4 hours to get there!!)
Oke there we were waiting for the ferry to arrive. Because it wasn't summer and all the ferry only de
parted once per hour! And guess what? We just missed the last one so we had to wait for a whole hour! Such a bummer! We had to go to the toilet sooo badly and there was no toilet to be seen so we were kind of panicing since we really needed to go!! In the and we found a dude who told us the toilet was at the end of the line cars. So Laura (my best friend) and I decided to look for them ... lucky us we found them quickly because it was almost time for the ferry to arrive!
We walked back to the cars and oh hell xD There it was, the ferry! So we kind of ran towards the car and when we arrived we could ride up the bridge into the ferry. (so we really were just in time!) The ferry ride? is always fun when you have food. I had some bread that I didn't eat along the way so I threw it in the air and in no time there were like 40 seagulls who tried to pick up the food out of my hands! Kind of scary really, one isn't that bad but 40 is quite intimidating. But it was kinda fun xD people looked at me like "she's crazy!" But I didn't care!
There it was Texel, the rain was all gone and the sun was shining! Like we were in a complete different country!! ^^ Then we had some epic scene going on because it was a traffic jam at Texel like WTF xD how can that happen on an island were live more sheep then people!
Anyways enough about the journey, it was all dark when we finally arrived at our cottage =) It wasn't that bad tho we went to the supermarked bought some stuff, walked around "De Koog" a bit (thats the name of the town) and went to the beach in the dark XD I can't see much in the dark because I'm night-blind so that was something to laugh about for the others. They were all like "HO Anke watch out a ... " but then it was to late because I already found that rock and I was on the floor! (_ _ " ) It's a good thing sand is soft!
Day 2: Birds, Dunes and ... sludge!!
The next day we looked out of the window and saw sun, lots of sunlight! It was a beautiful day! =) So we decided to visit some nature area's so we went to the most amazing area of them all the "Slufter" valley.
It was funny because I had my old shoes on so I could walk through the valley without thinking about my good shoes and so I did! But what I sort of forgotten was that sludge is kinda slippy!! XD We walked around for 2,5 hours! We saw lots of birds (Wadlopers) and it was so peacefull and quiet 'till I screamed because I fell into the sludge but the birds didn't seem to care so I guess they're used to it?! After walking for 2 hours we decided to walk back which wasn't that easy but we made it~!! Not with dry feet ofcourse but it was good weather that day so I put out my shoes and walked around barefoot!
The stairs we needed to climb before we were at the other side of the dunes! As you can see there was sunlight~! And some birds sitting in a pool! ^^ Talking about whatever birds talk about! XD And some dunes, sand, water from the sea and sludge!! Look at that sky xD I heard from my friends that it was horrible weather in Holland that day and we had sunlight the whole day long! ^^
After the Slufter we went to a little beach point where it was all quiet so that Flint (our dog) could run around without we had to worry about other people! ^^ There were only some fishing man on the beach and seagulls and some tiny cute birds that ran around like crazy! XD It looked funny because it are birds... why do they RUN when they can FLY XD.
After that, Laura and I went back to the cottage to change clothes so that we could visit one of the bigger towns on Texel while the others were going to the lighthouse =).
When we arrived in Den Burg I bought some useless things XD like you can see on the pictures below ^^ (keyrings; one rabbit (SO CUTE) and one sheep since Texel has more sheep then people)
After eating some of the best fried fish I ever had we went back to the cottage! Seriously I could eat there for hours if it wasn't that expensive and the dudes who worked at that place were all really cute and I suspected them to be gay o.O one of them was standing against the other and was stroking the other guys cheek with his hand. Gay action @ Texel hell yesh! XD It was a bummer none of them was Asian tho! =(
That evening we watched some typical Dutch TV shows (Ik hou van holland) and Inception =)
Day 3: Lighthouse Seals and Ecomare
We drove (with our Kpop music) to the lighthouse. The sun was nowhere to be seen but it wasn't raining so that was a good thing! ^^ We walked on the beach for an hour or so =) We walked towards the line where the " Noordzee " and " Waddenzee " were coming together and there it was! In the beginning I didn't know what I saw in the water I thought it was a bird or something but a little bit later a little head popped up from the water and it was really a wild seal! I never saw a wild seal before! But it was so cute! ^^ He followed us all the way back !!
That afternoon we went to Ecomare, a ittle museum about the "Waddeneilanden" but it's also a centre to take care of wounded and sick animals who are found on Texel =) They also had some seals there! So cute and also so sad that they were all there since they are all sick =( And the biggest enemie is the human. Why can't we just leave the nature alone and stop dropping garbage in the seas! When we were in the Slufter we also found plastic bags, bottle's of beer and energy drink and also a silicone gun ... so sad!
That evening we planned a bowling evening first we went out to eat some pizza and normally I'm not a big pizza fan but this one was absolutly amazing! Wish we had a Pizzaria like that at our place! And after that it was time to embarrass myself because it was bowling time. The first round went actually great XD we had fun because I was doing so good and my dad sucked =x So we felt good by defeating him. Laura had some troubles to control her way of throwing the bowlingbal it always made a turn to the left side o.O Very strange! But in the second round she totally defeated me! Bummer! ^^ But at the very end my dad still won! .___.
That evening we called it a day early because we had to leave around 9 oclock in the morning the next day!
Day 4: Goodbye peace
It was time to leave Texel behind and to go back home. I didn't want to leave I could've stayed there so much longer =( We started our Kpop CD again and we went home this time without much troubles. We arrived at the ferry in time and we didn't had any traffic jams along the way! ^^ We lost my dad along the way, I still dunno how o.O but we found them back!
Jep it was a great weekend and I talked too much about it and probably no one is going to read this xD but it doesn't matter because this is a little reminder for myself =)
